The 2025 EUROBIKE event attracted 31,270 trade visitors, a decline from the previous year's attendance of 35,080. Additionally, the number of consumers participating during the public "exhibition days" also fell, dropping from 33,090 last year to 30,420 this year. The exhibition featured 1,500 international exhibitors distributed across six dedicated halls and a large outdoor area.
One of the most notable changes at EUROBIKE 2025 was the absence of several key European and American brands. These long-time exhibitors have opted to reallocate their marketing budgets towards brand-specific events and digital platforms. This shift highlights changing priorities within the industry and raises concerns about the long-term vitality of the exhibition. The absence of these core exhibitors poses a significant risk, reminiscent of the cancellation of the Interbike exhibition in 2018. In response, EUROBIKE organizer Fairnamic is taking steps to adapt by strategically splitting the environmentally friendly mobility section into a separate event. The new event, "Mobifuture," is set to debut in 2026, scheduled to coincide with EUROBIKE, allowing the latter to refocus on its core bicycle-centric identity. Bernhard Lange, Managing Director of Paul Lange GmbH & Co. KG, Shimano's importer in Germany, noted that while many well-known companies were missing from the exhibition halls, they remained actively involved as visitors.
Cycling and mobility enthusiasts from around the globe were able to gain comprehensive insights into the latest developments and trends in the bicycle industry. The indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces exceeded 130,000 square meters, covering nearly every aspect of cycling. Attendees not only witnessed new products but also had the opportunity to experience them firsthand, with 189 exhibitors offering 1,200 bikes for test rides on an outdoor track. For the first time, Friday afternoon was incorporated into the bike festival schedule, allowing cycling enthusiasts to access the event a day early. Another highlight this year was the ability for exhibitors to sell products directly at the show over the weekend. Many brand booths, as well as retail setups established specifically for the bike festival, provided exclusive merchandise, including apparel, accessories, components, and complete bicycles.
Beyond networking and keeping up with the latest trends, international trade visitors were also interested in hard market data, as Europe is a key market for many exhibitors. The German Bicycle Association (ZIV) released data at the exhibition's opening, showing a modest upward trend in the market for the first quarter of 2025. According to ZIV statistics, Germany sold 385,000 bicycles in the first quarter of 2025, an increase of 10% compared to the previous year. Electric bicycles performed even better, with sales up 11%, reaching 500,000 units. Overall, the sales of bicycles and electric bicycles grew nearly 11%, totaling 885,000 units. Domestic bicycle production in Germany saw a stronger increase of 13.5%, reaching 760,000 units, with electric bicycle production rising nearly 16%. The bicycle and accessories market is slowly but steadily recovering. While the absence of major brands created challenges, it appeared to benefit smaller exhibitors, many of whom reported successful outcomes. There was a notable increase in the number of Asian exhibitors, particularly from Chinese manufacturers, reflecting a shift in global trade dynamics, with many Chinese brands now focusing on expanding in the European market due to punitive tariffs imposed by the United States.
Prior to the exhibition's opening, an important announcement was made: starting in 2026, the environmental mobility section of EUROBIKE will transform into an independent specialized exhibition. The new event will take place concurrently with EUROBIKE at the Frankfurt exhibition center, creating synergies between the two events. EUROBIKE will refocus on its bicycle-centric core activities, while Mobifuture aims to develop into a leading platform for urban and connected mobility solutions. The introduction of Mobifuture underscores the growing importance of electric mobility and integrated transport, positioning both exhibitions as key players in the rapidly evolving mobility landscape. The 34th edition of EUROBIKE and the inaugural Mobifuture will take place from June 24 to 28, 2026, at the Frankfurt exhibition center.
